Recently I clicked on a website for a coffee shop and I saw these words: Home Grown and Locally Sourced.
The owner boasted that they offered, “ambiance with no pretense, friendly baristas, delicious homemade food, and of course, legendary coffee.”
A click on the menu page and I read, “We believe in what a cup of coffee can do to enrich lives.”
Another click and I saw in bold letters: WE ARE ON A MISSION TO MAKE EVERY DROP, BITE, AND CRUMB DELICIOUS, FRESH, AND SATISFYING.
The next several lines were filled with “signature sandwiches” and “unique blends” and “creative, layered flavors.”
My next click was to find their location and directions!
In all that great messaging they chose headlines easily adapted for Global Disciples:
Global Disciples—Home Grown and Locally Sourced
In over 45 countries, the leaders of this movement of God are all local people. They are committed to taking the Gospel of Jesus to unreached people in close proximity to them. The investment of time and money to empower a near-culture church is only a fraction of what it costs to send a missionary from another country. Economically and culturally they are greatly equipped. We simply need to unite with their efforts.
This is a unique blend that includes insight from followers of Christ around the world, wisdom from the Ancient of Days, and modern technology to build the Kingdom of Jesus Christ.
They—no, we for we are one Body in many countries—represent hundreds of churches that care enough about unreached people nearby to prayerfully train and send out disciple-makers. And when you make disciples, churches will be planted.
Those who are trained are not spending months raising support, waiting to go. They live there. “Going” may mean a day-long bus ride, then riding a motor bike for a few hours, then hiking to a village that has never heard of Jesus. They already speak the language and know the culture. They are sourced locally and resourced globally as we come alongside and supplement funds for the initial training.
Since small business training is an essential part of our approach, these church planters and disciple-makers can use their business to support themselves and as a means of transformation among unreached people.
We believe in what Jesus Christ can do to transform a life, a village, and our world.
It’s really all about Christ’s work in and through His people. He calls each of us to reach others with His amazing grace and Good News…right where we live. A leader in India said recently, “If we do our job for the Lord in India, and you do your job for the Lord where you are, it won’t be long until the world is reached with the Gospel.”
WE ARE ON A MISSION TO MAKE SURE EVERY MAN, WOMAN, AND CHILD IN THE WORLD HAS THE OPPORTUNITY TO HEAR ABOUT JESUS CHRIST AND CAN CHOOSE TO FOLLOW HIM.
You can help empower the Body of Christ in close proximity to the 2 billion people in the world who still have not heard the Gospel.
Start with 1Day…
