With your help we are able to train leaders living near least-reached communities to multiply disciples.

When God calls us to serve Him, He also deals with our fears and worries.

Jesus came up and said to them, “All authority (all power of absolute rule) in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations [help the people to learn of Me, believe in Me, and obey My words], baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always [remaining with you perpetually—regardless of circumstance, and on every occasion], even to the end of the age.”Matthew 28:18-20

Consequently, as disciples of Jesus multiply, and new churches are planted among least-reached peoples, a new need develops.

How do you support the pastor of a newly-planted church?

A Way Forward For Church Plants

Newly planted churches are often small fellowships with few assets. And churches who sent the church planter may be limited in their ability to supply their needs.

That’s one of the places where Global Disciples comes in.

We see developing a small business as a way to resolve the issue. It offers a way forward from a problem that often hinders a disciple-maker from fulfilling the mission of sharing the Gospel.

Take Prem, for example. He’s a Nepali church planter with a desire to serve the Lord well. He recently came to a small business training we held. And he discovered something that has renewed his heart and his mind for mission.

Prems example

Prem said, “I came to faith 7 years ago. My wife and I went to India for seminary. I knew God was calling me for ministry but I didn’t know where or how to start after seminary. I had my family and I had fear of doing ministry and providing for my family. And, I thought, “what would my family and my church think If I’m not earning money?”

“I thank God for the small business development teaching,” Prem continued. “Now I know where and how to start my ministry! I can start a business, and through that I can be a good witness in the community. I will do business and serve God. So my fear is gone!”

Do not fear [anything], for I am with you;
Do not be afraid, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you, be assured I will help you;
I will certainly take hold of you with My righteous right hand [a hand of justice, of power, of victory, of salvation].
Isaiah 41:10

Do Not Fear!

We often see Global Disciples’ small business development training help bring confidence to church planters.

A small business can be an economic boost. But it also provides a way to effectively interact and witness in a community.

And it gives the church planter—and his family—an identity. And, importantly some peace of mind as they share the Gospel of Jesus with those who have yet to hear it.

Joyful Evangelism In Cameroon

In September 2016, at a training in Cameroon, Africa, Global Disciples equipped 17 church leaders to develop discipleship-mission training for their clusters of churches.

Within a month, all 17 had program proposals approved and ready to start.

Including the first discipleship-mission training in four countries new to our ministry at that time!

In Chad, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, and Central African Republic. We were thrilled to see such a quick movement of new trainings and the potential growth in these nations!

Within six months, we received the first report from one of the new programs—a discipleship- mission training in Chad.

They had trained 26 disciple-makers and had completed their first evangelism outreach.

God blessed and worked through them to lead 765 people to faith in Jesus Christ, establishing a new church and fueling the growth of numerous other small fellowships. What a great start!

Pierre’s Evangelism Story

The program leader also shared the testimony of two participants who saw the Lord work and reshape their hearts.

Pierre is a pastor, and he reflected, “I want to give God the glory for being part of this. I went to Bible school for three years but I can’t compare that with what I received during our training. It taught me how to approach people and share the Gospel with others. Our outreach gave me the opportunity to use what I learned—and the results were marvelous!”

Another participant, Kelly said, “I am happy because of this training. Everywhere I go, the Lord opens new doors and showers me with His blessings. I learned that intimacy with God gives me the courage to pray, and I get up every morning at 2 or 3 a.m. to pray. And I always intercede for the unreached before I go to bed. And I noticed during the outreach that there was great joy among us. Evangelism brings joy!”

He’s right—evangelism brings joy! To those who share the Gospel boldly. And to those who are hearing the Good News of Jesus for the first time…thanks to these disciple-makers, equipped and sent out in the country of Chad.

Over the years God has continued to bless our work in Chad as we’ve seen those who had yet to hear the good news of Jesus Christ have their lives completely transformed.

You can make your plans, but be sure they include listening to the Holy Spirit for true direction on God’s plan.

A man’s mind plans his way [as he journeys through life],
But the Lord directs his steps and establishes them.

Proverbs 16:9

So often God takes us out of our comfort zone, and changes our plans, in order to accomplish His plans! You can be thankful that God’s Plan is always the best plan.

Like the story of Perla recently. She leads a discipleship-mission training program in Mexico.

Usually, when the participants get to the outreach part of their training, they work as a full team at planting a church.

This time, Perla said, “The Holy Spirit led us to take the Gospel to a variety of locations. We connected with a man of peace in a very difficult place. He is a head teacher in the area. We stayed with him during our outreach and went to preach in 10 villages around the area.”

“Normally the whole team stays together and we do drama and a presentation,” Perla explained, “But this time we went out two by two. And this was the first time for many of them to do this kind of ministry.” However, as the teams began to report in, they had awesome stories to report and saw God working in mighty ways.

Perla And God’s Plan

Perla went along with two disciple-makers, a 20-year old, and one who was a teenager!

She said, “They never had gone out to share the Gospel before and it transformed them!”

They went to a location where the people had never heard of Jesus. They went door to door and shared the Gospel with 70 people, and only 1 person did NOT receive Jesus!

Most of their efforts focused on the women, since the men were away at work. But Perla and her two young disciple-makers had the opportunity to share the love and salvation of Christ with men as they returned from the fields, and all of them found new life and faith in Him! A church was born in a day.

Perla shared that the local hosting church experienced revival too as they saw what the Lord was doing. Praise God!

As Perla and her team know, when the Holy Spirit nudges you and changes your plans, it’s worth following His direction.

Though her name means “evangelist”, Evangelina had never shared the Gospel with someone; she didn’t know how.

Then she took part in a discipleship training hosted by her church fellowship in the Dominican Republic.

As she learned what she could do, Evangelina was compelled by the Spirit to go to a community near her home. It was a neighborhood with no Christian presence and no knowledge of the Good News.

Evangelina’s Evangelism Story

Evangelina shared the Gospel boldly and built relationships as people came to faith in Christ.

Alize, a 12-year-old girl, accepted Jesus. “This is the first time someone explained the story of God and the love of Jesus to me,” she told Evangelina. Alize felt the Holy Spirit filling her life, and she was baptized with four other young people.

In fact, as Evangelina, Alize, and others gave testimony to the Gospel, entire families came to Christ.

Now, the neighborhood has at least one believer in every home. Evangelina passes along what she learned to equip new believers and extend the Kingdom in this spiritually needy area.

Like Evangelina, people often come to Global Disciples’ training with a need. As God equips them for His Kingdom work, He is also meeting their needs through training.

Evangelism And Practical Needs

In Ethiopia, Megressa’s need was practical—shelter, food, and clothing for his family. His heart was to share the Gospel and minister to people, but he had nothing to live on. Even moving to a larger town had not met his family’s needs.

However, Megressa was invited to a local Global Disciples Small Business Development training. It opened his eyes to what he was capable of, and how he could continue to reach others with the Gospel.

Inspired and equipped, Megressa returned to his home village and started a small farm, fattening livestock for meat.

Consequently, as he served his community, he also shared Christ, and within a year, 62 people received Christ as their Savior! Over 40 were baptized and a new fellowship was planted. He’s added to his livestock, built a home for his family, and spreads the Gospel daily.

Zik’s need was buried deep in his heart.

Zik’s Evangelism Story

A participant in a Global Disciples Leadership Development program in Zimbabwe, Zik was moved by the Holy Spirit during a session on forgiveness. He was a church leader, serving people well and sharing the Word of God, but he had a bitter heart. His younger brother had taken his land and burned his stored crops. The deep pain and betrayal made them enemies.

As he absorbed the teaching, Zik knew he needed to forgive. He went home and shared his intent with his family. He invited the community elders to mediate a meeting with his brother. Zik then faced his brother and extended forgiveness to him and his family—an act that rippled through their community as testimony of God’s power.

Global Disciples Approach To Evangelism

Today, Zik’s relationship with his brother is healed and much has been restored. At least a dozen people from their family and community have also come to faith in Jesus. And Zik continues to serve as a leader with a heart free of bitterness.

What joy to see God using our Global Disciples approach to not only meet needs, but to multiply disciples and churches through people like Zik, Megressa, and Evangelina.

Discover the joy of Holy Spirit transformation as churches multiply and lives are changed in Northern India.

Have you ever thought about this? What brings joy to God? More churches planted? Or a life transformed by His Spirit?

Well, both, of course. Church multiplication is awesome! It reflects the growth of the Body of Christ. And churches are made up of those who follow Jesus, who are being renewed and transformed by His Holy Spirit.

In our Global Disciples approach to equipping disciple-makers, we eagerly expect to see the Holy Spirit do his transforming work. And it often begins during the training as those who believe in Jesus discover what it means to His disciple.

That was Reha’s experience. Read on to find out more!

Reha’s experience of the joy of Holy Spirit Transformation

A young woman from Northeast India, her family are not believers or followers of Jesus.

Now, Reha had claimed to be a Christian—she had even been baptized.

But her relationship with Christ was not reflected in her life, her actions, or her words. “I was known as a very bad girl,” she said.

And so, because her behavior didn’t match what she claimed to believe, her family despised and rejected her Christian faith.

In fact, a friend told her about the discipleship-mission training through a local church cluster and Reha decided to attend.

At first, she was shy and struggled with the training. But as time went on, the Spirit began to work in her heart and change her life.

So, one day, she confessed her sins, and decided to fully follow Christ in every aspect of her life. She also wanted to forgive her parents for their treatment of her. As the training director reported, “She was transformed completely!”

In fact, Reha finished the training and outreach, then returned home to her parents to ask them to forgive her.

A change of heart

Her parents saw profound changes in her words, actions, and attitudes and because of the Spirit’s transforming work, they and the rest of Reha’s family soon placed their faith and trust in Christ as their Savior and Lord.

Did this transformation last? Oh yes! Today, Reha is fully committed to Christ and led by the Spirit.

In fact, she has become a godly example for young people in her community, and a leader in the youth ministry in her local church.

And The Holy Spirit is at work, transforming hearts and lives and empowering His people to be living examples of God’s grace.

Make a difference today!

Did you know that life-changing stories like Reha’s reflect the fruit and impact of Global Disciples’ mission and vision to multiply effective disciple-makers and church planters among least-reached people.

And you can be part of it too—start with THE REACH! Why not become part of our monthly giving community of people who are committed to making it possible for a third of our world to hear about Jesus. Start here.

When Jesus goes to work in your life, He may move you into something you never anticipated. In fact, it may be far beyond your comfort Zone.

When people talk about “unreached people” you probably don’t think of New Zealand. But Christ- followers in that secular culture are surrounded by people who don’t know Jesus. And many who have very little exposure to the Gospel.

A discipleship-mission training program in New Zealand uses our Global Disciples’ approach to equip local believers as disciple-makers.

In fact, they often focus their outreach in places in the South Pacific, like Tonga and the Cook Islands. Meg recently participated in the training.

Meg’s Story of Living Beyond Her Comfort Zone

Meg said, “Before I went to the training, I led a very busy life, and was broken by many disappointments. I questioned whether God and His promises were real. But He answered my prayers, and did abundantly above and beyond that which I asked. My life has been transformed from the inside out.”

While she experienced a personal change in her life, it was the outreach to Tonga that stretched and strengthened Meg’s faith.

“I was pushed beyond my comfort zone,” she said, “I had the opportunity to preach in prison and on the street corner in the city center. I prayed with the elderly who were struggling with sicknesses, and many people were set free and healed. We witnessed the power of the Holy Spirit and were privileged to see many people come to a relationship with Christ.”

You know, God often takes us beyond our comfort zone to show us more of Himself, and just what He can accomplish through our obedience.

Meg’s Mission Beyond Her Comfort Zone

And, as Meg explained, “Travelling to Tonga gave me an opportunity to refocus on God, to see how much He loves me and that He’s faithful. I rediscovered my first love in Jesus.”

Consequently, she discovered His mission for her life.

In fact, she said, “My heart is to see God’s message of love and salvation move all over the South Pacific and around the world. I’m already planning and coordinating with local leaders for an outreach to the Cook Islands.”

Life transformation–and a vision to carry on the Great Commission. That’s what we love to see as Global Disciples.

When faced with hardship, do you give up? Or persevere in faith?

Serving the Body of Christ around the world is a real privilege for Global Disciples. We partner with churches to provide training that helps them fulfill the Great Commission of Jesus Christ—to go make disciples.

In some places, partnerships are just beginning. And as potential is unlimited, as we see in one country in South East Asia.

In one particular region, our involvement has been primarily in providing small business training for local church leaders. Global Disciples gives them a way to support their families and ministry as they go out and plant new churches.

As God opens the door, we want to begin discipleship-mission training before long. In this country, most Christians belong to ethnic minorities. They face great opposition from their Buddhist or animist neighbors and from the Communist authorities.

A group of believers in this nation lost their homes and their farmland because of their faith in Jesus.

Some were even former members of the Communist Party.

Their coffee crops were destroyed, livestock was killed, and food stores were stolen. At one point, local officials came in with a backhoe and just pushed the believers’ homes into the river!

Undeterred, this small fellowship relocated, and set up in tents.

God is Faithful Through Hardship

And, though they’re now on land that’s poorly suited for farming, God is blessing their hard work.

An evangelist in the region visits regularly, and he reported that even with all the difficulties, this small fellowship goes out regularly to share the Good News of Jesus with others.

To have discipleship-mission training would be a tremendous help for these communities of Christ followers, like this group in South East Asia.

They’re eager to have the tools to multiply the Body of Christ, to make and nurture disciples of Jesus, and to plant new churches.

Despite hardship, opposition, limited resources, and many other hurdles, they’re ready to reach 38 people groups that are still without the glorious Good News of Jesus in that region.

Let’s do our part—as we pray for them and work together to accomplish the Great Commission.

Joshil’s life taking him skepticism to surrendering to Christ will inspire and challenge you in your own life!

Have you seen God’s hand at work in your life?

How did He bring you to where you are today?

No matter where you are, your age, your job, family, or ministry…you are here today because of God’s faithfulness.

Did you know that?

Recently, I was reading and reflecting on some testimonies given at one of our training events in India.

In fact, stories like this are wonderful reminders of the transforming power of Jesus. Even through times of ridicule and oppression, with very little teaching and fellowship with other believers, God is able to sustain us through His Word and by the Holy Spirit.

Be encouraged and inspired by Joshil’s story!

Joshil’s story of God’s hand at work

Meet Joshil! He is one of our newer leaders. He’s in his early 30s, with a background in education, and is a gifted, passionate man of vision.

“I was brought up in a Hindu family,” he said. “A pastor used to come 70 kilometers to my village. And I would try to chase him away! A friend and I sat in the back of the meeting one evening to cause trouble.”

“But this meeting was different,” Joshil said. “The Word of God came like a bullet in my heart, and I was transformed. In fact, I knelt and wept for the first time. I surrendered my life to Jesus.”

New life isn’t easy

However, Joshil’s new life wasn’t easy. In fact, for a year he struggled. His family ridiculed him; he had no local church; the pastor only came occasionally. Yet, there was no one to nurture his new life in Christ. Eventually, he left his family and went to a Bible school. After ten years he made it home again after he got married.

Despite the difficulties, Joshil has grown spiritually, and he knows the importance of equipping others to be disciples of Jesus.

In fact, He said, “In all these years, I can see the hand of God in my life. The change that happened that night sustained me.”

Would you pray for Joshil and others like him as they share the Good News of Jesus and make disciples? Could you thank the Lord for His hand that guides and sustains you and all of us who know and trust Him.

Have you ever been surprised by God? You anticipate one thing—maybe even dreaded or fear it—and then you see the Lord do the unexpected instead? But God is a God of the unexpected! Read on and find out how Global Disciples Canada is partnering with a miracle working God!

God often chooses to work in unexpected ways.

In fact, Beni experienced one of God’s surprises. He directs a discipleship-mission training program in Kenya, and when it came time for outreach, he and his team of disciple-makers went out to share the Gospel in a large community.

It was going well. Beni said, “Then the Lord told us to move on to the next village.”

However, their host pastor warned them against it. That village was controlled by a gang of rowdy young men, known for substance abuse and alcoholism. And the surrounding communities were all afraid of them.

Beni acted on the warning but “our witness became a huge failure,” he said.

Young men become disciples

“So we went on to that next community where we were received surprisingly well. As we prepared to show the Jesus film, the local boys promised to be our security! They saw to it no one would touch us or our equipment!”

The same young men that everyone feared, God used as security for the visiting disciple- makers!

Even better, many of the gang members turned their lives over to Jesus Christ, as Beni’s team shared the Gospel with them and with the community.

The power of the gospel in action

The power of God broke chains of alcoholism, substance abuse. It began transforming the lives of over one hundred people who put their faith in Jesus.

In fact, the community’s reputation completely changed! Where once there was fear, now neighboring villages were amazed to see what God is doing.

God of the unexpected miracle

Beni reflected back, “God spoke that the work in one village was done, and we should move on to this troubled village. He led, He protected us as ministers in an unexpected way, and He brought many extreme sinners, I mean, those who others had written off, to Himself. When God says something, He knows what He is saying.”

And as Beni discovered, He may surprise us with the unexpected if we obey and follow Him.

Becoming a disciple is a process of transformation. A change in heart, in mind, in vision, in purpose—all under the work of the Holy Spirit to make us more like Jesus. Global Disciples helps churches around the world to develop discipleship-mission training this life transformation as a goal. Becoming like Jesus…and then seeing people as He does. It’s a change of heart, a change of vision.

A disciple of Jesus is about more than just following Him. It’s about being made over in the likeness of the One we follow.

Suresh’s Heart And Vision

Suresh directs one of 75 discipleship-mission trainings we partner with in Nepal. And he spent some time talking with those he trained, to see what work God was doing in them.

First, he saw that many had no prayer life, no time studying the Bible, but now they know how to do it, and they were committed to making it part of their lives.

One young man told Suresh, “I used to read the Bible but I did not understand it. But now I see that God speaks through His Holy Spirit to show me the meaning of what I read.”

One of the women said, “I used to think I knew everything I needed to know; but in this training, I realized I need to learn many things yet! I have learned a lesson in humility.”

A heart for lost people

Suresh reports, “Our training not only helped these participants to share the Gospel, but it also created a heart for lost people in them. Before, they had no concern for sharing the Gospel.

Now they see that God has called them for this ministry.

“They told me, ‘People are created for God’s glory, but they have turned away from Him. So we know God has called us to this ministry of reconciliation.’”

A change of heart and a change of vision—this is the transformative work of the Spirit in building, strengthening, and multiplying disciples in Nepal, and around the world.
